The Emergency Medicine Team at Mason District Hospital recruit highly trained professionals to provide emergency medical treatment to those who live in our communities. The Emergency Department is open and staffed 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
When someone calls 911, Mason County EMS’s Advanced Life Support Ambulance is dispatched from Havana or Mason City to provide care at the scene and on the way to the hospital. Mason county EMS provides the highest level of pre-hospital care in the State of Illinois.
Our 24 hour hospital Emergency Department is staffed by a physician who specializes in emergency medicine, assisted by a team of Registered Nurses who are certified as Trauma Nurse Specialists or have their Trauma Nursing Core course certification. In addition, the staff maintains certifications in Advanced Cardiac Life Support and Pediatric Advanced Life Support.
The Emergency Department also has protocols and agreements with hospitals in Springfield and Peoria, to stabilize and transfer patients with critical illnesses, such as major trauma, heart attacks and strokes.
